Is it legal for the provincial government to fire the Cowichan Valley Board of Education because it has chosen to send in a deficit budget?
The trustees decided Wednesday, June 20 that they want to know.
Following a motion by Trustee Ellen Oxman, they debated the subject.
Some trustees argued that paying for such legal advice now would only add to the district's budget problems."This is an unusual situation," she said. "It's more about options."
Trustee Duncan Brown said it had to be done immediately.
"We can't do it after [June 30]," he said.
That is the last day for the district to file a compliance budget.
