The B.C. Teachers’ Federation is backing a demand by Langley teachers for a full investigation into how the Langley school district could have racked up a $8.2 million debt yet still have “full confidence” in its superintendent.
Teachers in Langley have called for the resignation of Langley school superintendent Cheryle Beaumont and BCTF president Irene Lanzinger agreed, saying in an interview Monday that Beaumont must be held accountable.
But Lanzinger also emphasized that the B.C. education ministry should “investigate the oversight role of the Langley superintendent of schools in regard to the $8.3 million debt.”
